The Vermont State Housing Authority (VSHA) has partnered with AffordableHousing.com to streamline the application process for our housing programs and projects.

Please note: Applying does not guarantee you will receive a Project-Based or Housing-Choice voucher. Final eligibility will be determined once you are selected from the waitlist.
How to apply
Please watch this short video tutorial.
- Create an account at Vermont State Vermont State Housing Authority (affordablehousing.com)
- Click “Apply Now”.
- Complete the application.
- You will receive an email verification confirming that your application was received.
What if I want a paper application?
- Call (888) 406-4003 and AffordableHousing.com will mail you one!
- Fill it out and return it to one of the options below:

- Fax to (561) 416-9848
- Mail to “VSHA – Section 8 Intake, 1 Prospect Street, Montpelier VT 05602”
How do I update my application?
- You can do this yourself! Log into your account that you created at Vermont State Housing Authority (affordablehousing.com) and update any information you want, OR
- Call (888) 406-4003 and request a paper update form. It will be mailed to you. Fill it out and return it by email, fax, or mail.
How do I check my status on the waitlist?
- By calling (888) 406-4003! We will not tell you what number you are on the waiting list, it’s our policy.
What do I do now?
- Wait. You will be contacted when you are at the top of the list. At that time, you will need to provide more information so final decisions can be made before you are issued a voucher.
